The demo runs on virtual credits—no card details, no deposit, nothing gets charged. You're testing version 1.6.1.8 from January 2023, the exact build that pays real money on casino floors.

Same maths, same free spins trigger rate, same fisherman catch mechanics. Real Time Gaming doesn't rig demos; they can't afford the licensing headaches. You're seeing the actual 5-reel engine with all 10 paylines active, just swapping real stakes for play money.

No registration walls here. You can cycle through hundreds of spins to see how often those boat scatters land, or whether the free games feature hits your rhythm. The demo doesn't time out after 20 spins like some older slots—test the autoplay, deliberately chase the bonus round, whatever you need before risking your balance.

If the free spins feel stingy in demo, they'll be identically stingy with real cash. That's the point—you're getting the truth before you commit.

Before Fishin' Frenzy got Megaways, Fortune Spins, and half a dozen other variants, there was just this: a straightforward 10-line slot where a cheerful fisherman catches fish during free spins. Released in 2014, it became Reel Time Gaming's most successful franchise and one of the UK's most recognizable slot brands—spawning at least eight sequels and spin-offs that are still arriving in 2026. But the original remains stubbornly simple: 96.12% RTP, selectable paylines, and a bonus feature that awards cash prizes when fisherman symbols land alongside fish. It's aged surprisingly well for an 11-year-old slot, partly because Reel Time Gaming kept refining the formula elsewhere whilst leaving this version untouched. If you've played the Megaways or Big Splash versions, you might find the original almost quaint—but there's something to be said for the uncluttered design that started it all.

How To Play

Before your first spin, you'll need to configure your bet. Fishin' Frenzy gives you two ways to do this. The simplest method is clicking the TOTAL BET button (look for the stack of coins icon on the right sidebar), which opens a menu where you can select from preset stake options. Alternatively, if you want more granular control, you can use the bet menu to set both the number of active win lines (1-10) and your bet per line separately—your total stake is then lines multiplied by bet per line.

Once your bet's sorted, hit the SPIN button (circular arrow) to start the reels. They'll spin and stop automatically from left to right. If you're impatient, you can speed things up: while the reels are spinning, the spin button changes to a fast forward icon—press it to stop the reels immediately rather than waiting for them to finish their animation.

The payline indicators run down both sides of the reels, numbered 1-10 in various colours. These aren't just decorative—they show which lines are active and help you track winning combinations. Active lines light up; inactive ones grey out. The coloured lines overlay the reels themselves, so you can see exactly where each payline runs.

Autoplay is available through the circular arrows button. This opens a menu where you'll select how many automatic spins you want. Once activated, the button displays your remaining autoplay spins. The system's fairly intelligent about stopping itself: it'll automatically pause when you trigger the Free Spins Bonus, if you hit a set loss limit, or if you win a progressive pot (where applicable). You can also manually interrupt autoplay with the STOP button (square icon)—pressing spin again resumes where you left off.

During autoplay, the game handles everything according to your initial bet settings. You don't need to adjust anything between spins unless you want to change your stake or stop the sequence.

One practical note: the reels always stop in sequence from left to right, which means you'll see whether you're building a winning combination before the final reel lands. This is standard behaviour—there's no way to change the stop order, but the fast forward option during manual spins gives you control over the pacing if you want quicker results.

The interface is straightforward once you've located these core controls: bet menu (coins), spin (circular arrow), and autoplay (double arrows). Everything else happens automatically based on the symbols that land.

Symbols & Payouts

The game uses a mix of fishing-themed symbols and standard playing cards. All wins pay from left to right on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost reel. You need at least 2 or 3 matching symbols (depending on the symbol) to land a win.

Symbol Payouts

Symbol 5 of a Kind 4 of a Kind 3 of a Kind 2 of a Kind
Pelican symbol Pelican (brown bird with large beak)
400,000 40,000 10,000 1,000
Fishing Rod symbol Fishing Rod (yellow rod with reel)
200,000 30,000 6,000 -
Life Preserver Ring symbol Life Preserver Ring (orange and white striped ring)
100,000 20,000 4,000 -
Tackle Box symbol Tackle Box (blue fishing box)
100,000 20,000 4,000 -
Playing cards symbols A / K / Q / J / 10
20,000 5,000 1,000 -

Payouts are shown in currency units and multiplied by your bet per line. Only the highest win on each line is paid, but wins across different lines add together.

Scatter Symbol

Boat Scatter symbol - fishing vessel with SCATTER text

The Boat – a fishing vessel with the word "SCATTER" on it – is your ticket to the bonus round. It doesn't need to land on a payline; 3, 4, or 5 anywhere in view triggers Free Games.

Wild Symbol

Fisherman Wild symbol - character in green vest holding golden fish

The Fisherman – a smiling character in a green vest and orange shirt holding a large golden fish – only appears during the Free Games feature. He substitutes for all symbols except the Boat scatter, helping you complete winning combinations.

Free Games Bonus

Free Games bonus feature interface

Land 3, 4, or 5 Boat scatters anywhere on the reels to trigger Free Games:

Fish symbol with cash prize

During Free Games, the real action starts. Fish symbols appear on the reels, each carrying a cash prize: 20, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, or 500. Whenever a Fisherman Wild lands in view, he collects the prize value from every Fish symbol currently visible on screen. Multiple Fishermen collect independently – if two Fishermen land with three Fish showing, you'll get the combined value of all three Fish twice.

The Fisherman also pays as a symbol during the feature:

Free Games play at the same bet and number of lines as the spin that triggered them. They can't be retriggered during the feature – once you've used all your spins, you're returned to the base game with your accumulated winnings.

Pros Cons
  • Selectable paylines (1-10) → adjust bet structure to your preference
  • Fisherman collection mechanic → free spins get extra win potential from fish values on screen
  • Crystal-clear simplicity → no complex rules or confusing mechanics to learn
  • Wide bet range (£0.10-£200 equivalent) → suits casual punters and higher-stakes players
  • Fast-forward button → speed through base game spins when you're hunting the bonus
  • The franchise original → spawned multiple Frenzy sequels, this is the stripped-back classic
  • 2014 release → feels dated against modern slot design standards
  • No retrigger in bonus → hard cap at 20 free spins maximum
  • Selectable lines design → outdated compared to ways/fixed-line modern slots
  • Generic 10-A card symbols → half the paytable is uninspired filler
  • No bonus buy feature → must trigger free spins naturally (UK permits buy features)
  • Newer Frenzy variants available → Megaways and enhanced versions offer more features
